You create valuable material every day: processes, templates, presentations, guides, photos. Packaged well, these become digital products that generate income while you work on other things. Here's how to choose, build and sell them.
This guide is part of our digital marketing strategy series, and complements how to monetize your expertise.

Create a template or guide first. Test demand with a pre-sale or waitlist before building something large.
Consider the time and money it saves the buyer. Offer tiers (basic, complete, with support), and use launch pricing to reward early buyers.
A marketing agency notices it rebuilds the same campaign planning spreadsheet for every client. It turns the spreadsheet into a polished template with instructions and a short video walkthrough, and sells it on its website. A free lite version becomes a lead magnet, and several buyers later hire the agency to run their campaigns.
Three yeses suggest it's worth a pilot.
Not every digital asset needs to be sold. A free, excellent tool or guide can bring in high-value service clients, which is often worth more than product sales. For how products fit a growing business, see building a scalable business model and revenue diversification.
Intangible resources you own that can create value, such as templates, guides, courses, software tools, photo and video libraries, email lists, and content that can be sold, licensed or used to attract clients.
A template, checklist or short guide based on something you already do for clients. It takes less time to create and tests demand quickly.
On your own website with an e-commerce or digital download tool, on course platforms, or on marketplaces suited to your product type.
A larger audience helps, but a small, engaged and relevant audience can be enough to validate and sell a focused product.
